Look, ROBIN! Stop what you’re doing and look at this. YES! Dick Grayson’s first look as the original Boy Wonder, Robin in the upcoming Titans Live Action TV show has been revealed. I like it!!! I know they will eventually evolve his look to be Nightwing, so I am loving that they are starting with his Robin look first. What do you think of it?

Brenton Thwaites will be playing Batman’s original sidekick-turned-full-flesh superhero-leader. Titans is set to air on the upcoming DC direct digital service sometime in 2018. We do not know the rest of the team’s costumes, yet. So far we do know that Teagan Croft will be Raven, Anna Dior as Starfire, Lindsey Gort as officer Amy Rohrbach, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, and Minka Kelly as Dove.

Teen Titans Judas Contract is a very well known story for the Teen Titans. An animated movie based on this storyline has been teased all the way back to 2006. So when Warner Brothers announced that they will finally go ahead and make this film in 2016, many fans were ecstatic. We just got the first images and official voice actors being named with their characters, and it’s not going to be a stand along movie with the original Teen Titan characters as many were hoping but instead be a part of the New 52 animated universe. What are they thinking?!

Has DC Comics not learned that their New 52 Universe in the comic books failed? Miserably. Dan Didio along with Jim Lee who are Co-Publishers of DC Comics, tried so hard to get fans on board to like the New 52 Universe and it did not pan out. The new Rebirth plot has luckily revived a huge interest in DC to explain away all of the changes that were made to the old universe. It would make sense to drop the New 52 that in the animated world as well. There are many stand alone DC animated stories that have been made and are incredible well done. I was personally hoping that this story would be one of them. It deserves it. But it is not to be. Such a missed opportunity.

If you are not aware, the original Judas Contract focused on the betrayal of Titan member Terra. Turns out this character who had faked a love interest in Changling/Beast Boy, was working for Deathstroke the Terminator, aka Slade Wilson. Terra was introduced in The New Teen Titans #26 all the way back in 1982. Her betrayal was a huge reveal and was something that effected the Titans for years.

It should be noted that the Teen Titans Cartoon Network series loosely adapted the Judas Contract in their own series. It was enjoyable and surprisingly very dark. The cast for the upcoming version of the Judas Contract include: The Judas Contract include: Christina Ricci as Terra, Miguel Ferrer (who just recently passed) as Deathstroke. Sean Maher as Nightwing, Kari Wahlgren as Starfire, Jake T. Austin as Blue Beetle, Taissa Farmiga as Raven, Brandon Soo Hoo as Beast Boy, and Stuart Allan as Damian Robin. No Cyborg, Wally West – Kid Flash, or Donna Troy. For some reason DC really has no love for Donna in the animated world, and she such a great character. The movie is expected to be released in late 2017.

Over at MultiversityComics.com, it was reported that Aqualad will finally join up with a superhero team in the DC Comic Book Universe in Teen Titans #6. If you have seen the Young Justice cartoon, you are familiar with Kaldur’ahm aka Aqualad. Many comic book fans knew that there was another Aqualad in the comic books by the name of Jackson Hyde. They had very different backgrounds with the exception of Black Manta being their father. When the New 52 DC Universe came about, Aqualad was quietly forgotten by writers. That is until the Rebirth one-shot story hit us with a reference to a boy named Jackson who showed to be a talented swimmer and who was also gay.

Some people cheered that Aqualad was being brought back but others cringed that he was going to be a gay character. No interpretation will make everyone completely happy. His new appearance suggests that the artists involved are going to have Jackson look similar to his cartoon counterpart and have him with blonde hair. I personally like this but I like his Pre-New 52 style as well. I am just glad he is being brought back. I hope he also has a strong connection with Aquaman in his books and that we will see him being mentored by the King of Atlantis.

Aqualad will make his debut in Teen Titans #6, scheduled for March 2017. He will be in the title: “The Rise of Aqualad,” to which the synopsis reads:

New story! New city! New member? As the team adjusts to their new lives at Titans Tower, Damian investigates a series of strange disappearances in San Francisco. Meanwhile, Jackson Hyde heads west to fulfill his destiny…and finds himself in the crosshairs of the Teen Titans!

Aqualad’s new comic book art is more than likely being influenced by the return of Young Justice. The third season is in early development stages and will more than likely have the original core cast of members. Aqualad was their leader in the first season and was an undercover agent for most of the second season before retaking the leadership role.

Anyways, enjoy these super hot guys who have cosplayed as Kaldur/Jackson in the past!

Titans #1 is the closest we get to a sequel to the Rebirth series. This is a great starting point for any comic fan that has been off of DC Comics. A great series and the fun and family feel for this series has finally returned. A must read for any DC Comic Fan.
