There have been reports that mega body builder, Mike O’Hearn has been cast in the role of the iconic character of He-Man from the Masters of the Universe series. Mike stated on his Instagram page that he needs to lose about 30 pounds of lean muscle for the role. However, this has not been confirmed by the writer of the movie, Chris Yost. Yost is best known for writing the Thor movies and many episodes of the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Hero animated series.

Masters

There have been numerous reports on an upcoming He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie to be made. NUMEROUS. Many fans have speculated and have been disappointed with script rewrites, delays and complete cancellations of any new film based on the iconic Eternian to ever be made. O’Hearn would be absolutely perfect in physical appearance for the role of He-Man. He has the physique of a Mr. Universe champion, which he has won in the past. In fact, he has won four times. He also has the face and hair of He-Man. It almost seems too perfect for him to be cast because more than likely, a much more well known celebrity and ultimately much smaller actor would be cast. But of course, if this is the case and then that said entertainer will tell fans that he will put on 50-60 pounds of muscle for the role. O’Hearn has been a gladiator in the past for America Gladiators, and has even played a barbarian in the show Barbarian, Keeper of Time.

Any Masters of the Universe fan can talk for hours on how much a new movie is needed and that the previous attempt at making a live action movie back in the 80’s with Dolph Lungren flopped so incredibly badly. Granted, the budge for that movie was reduced ridiculously and was rushed to be pushed to theaters to meet the demand from marketing. But this series has a huge following and the mix of magic and sorcery blend together for a unique story to be told that incorporates fantasy with sci-fi elements. It would seem as though this is one of the few franchises that is in need and demand for a remake would make it to theaters.

He-Man

So was O’Hearn cast? I have tweeted and sent messages to him O’Hearn but he has not said much more on the subject. I was hoping that thee would be some official notice stated, but at this point, no other sources seem to confirm that any casting has taken place. Masters of the Universe fans await the official word, very optimistically.

Ram Man Masters Classics (3).Movie_Snapshot

I’ve been waiting to get this figure for years! I love Ramman. He was one of my favorite figures from the original toyline. He’s huge, he’s strong and may not be the smartest of all of the Masters of the Universe, but he definitely has a lot of heart in his character. Check out my thoughts on the figure in the video below.

Saurod Masters of the Universe Classics (4).Movie_Snapshot

Saurod – the LAST of the Movie figures to be released from the Masters of the Universe Classics series. For now at least. Hopefully we’ll get more, but as it stands, he is the last. He’s an awesome figure. Check out my thoughts on him in the video below.

Hawkman and Hawkgirl

We have already been shown what Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash (pictured below) will look like in the upcoming season 2 of the Flash. Now we get to see what Hawkgirl will look like in the new Legends of Tomorrow series as well. I was not sure if Hawkman would show up this season, but apparently he will as he is also shown in the picture. It seems as though only Hawkgirl was being advertised as being part of this new spinoff, but apparently both will be showing up.

Jay Garrick

I like the costumes and I do like that Hawkman has his mace. That’s got to be a requirement. I am curious as to how their wings are going to look. I imagine that their wings will only appear when they actually fly, or something to that magnitude. I would probably be difficult for them to maneuver around in scene with huge wings in the way. These costumes I feel are a bit covered up as Hawkman usually likes to show his awesome hairy chest. I am not sure if this is better than the Smallville version of Hawkman or not (pictured below) but I still like this and I cannot wait to see the show!

Hakman from Smallville

Legends of Tomorrow is set to premiere in Spring 2016.

Evil Seed Masters of the Universe Classics Toy Review.Movie_Snapshot

Evil Seed! He’s the evil counter part to Moss Man in the Masters of the Universe line. He’s actually a pretty cool figure. I’m glad that they released him. Check out my thoughts on him in the video below.

art-of-being-straight-rosen-2

This is definitely not the best movie out there and the ending is just an ending. Nothing great and very anti-climatic. Check out my thoughts on this one and let me know what you think of it yourself.

He-Man Master of the Universe

Awesome news! We have confirmation from Variety.com now that Christopher Yost, the writer for the third installment of the Thor movies -Thor:Ragnarok. That’s not all Yost has done, but it seems to be the biggest entertainment piece of late that everyone focuses on the most. Needless to say, I am pretty excited. Wary that this will fall through like so many other failed attempts to make a Masters of the Universe film, but still very hopful.

If you’re a hardcore He-Man and The Masters of the Universe fan, then you know the pain of waiting for a new live action movie. Fans have been teased for years that a new movie will one day be made since the 1980s version of Masters of the Universe hit theaters. Many, many, many people hated it, but it has grown a bit of a cult following in a small population of He-Man fans.

Tim Drake reunion with Superboy

Christopher Yost also wrote for the cartoon series X-Men: Evolution as well as (Avengers) Earth Mightiest Heroes. Both shows were incredible and I believe are some of the better planned out series that I’ve seen. He has also written my favorite comic book character of all time- Tim Drake- in his Red Robin series from DC Comics. So he definitely has the geek credibility under his belt. Can he write He-Man and Masters of the Universe to be faithful to the source material, but still make it relevant to modern cinema? I hope so and I’m going to be waiting for this to develop with very positive thinking.

Castle Grayskull

I am sure that everyone is aware of the background of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, but in case anyone is not aware, here’s a short synopsis. Originally He-Man was a powerful barbarian warrior that was modeled off of Conan. He lived on the planet of Eternia where he fought to keep evil from taking an ancient power that resided within an equally ancient castle called Grayskull. His greatest foe was a skull faced villain called Skeletor. The planet possessed lots of magic and sorcery but was also technologically advanced. Later the story was altered and He-Man was written to be the alter ego to an Eternian Prince named Adam son of King Randor. Adam was a half human/half Eternian twin, whose sister, Adora, was abducted as a baby by an evil force even greater than Skeletor, Hordak of the Horde Empire. The series continued on with Adam possessing the power of He-Man who fought evil on Eternia as having two identities that was secret to all but a few people that were close to him.

Buzz Saw Hordak Masters of the Universe Classics Toy Review.Movie_Snapshot

Here’s Buzz Saw Hordak! Who is that? Well, it’s regular Hordak, with a Buzz Saw in his chest. No seriously. Kids in the 80’s really dug this kind of thing. It’s a cool figure, and I’ll definitely give it a good home. Check out my thoughts on this figure in the vid below.

Hoover Robots (2).Movie_Snapshot

Masters of the Universe Classics is coming to an end soon (supposedly) and we were able to get some figures that we never thought that we’d get. Here, we got Skeletor’s Hoover Robots from the original Filmation series. Pretty cool, and I’m loving them! Check out my thoughts below.
