Just announced that Zachary Levi will have the lead role in the DC Cinematic universe’s SHAZAM movie. Is that good or bad? It appears that he’ll be playing Billy Batson who is generally a child in the comic book/cartoon interpretations but was played by Michael Gray during the Shazam! TV show. Which Michael was an adult at the time of that show. So it could still work.

I personally like Zachary Levi a lot myself. I do not know what style he will be playing Billy in this movie, but Levi is great with comedy. Although all of the DC cinematic movies that have come out so far are quite serious, so comedy will more than likely be downplayed. Who knows though, Levi could be playing SHAZAM himself. If that is case, I am quite sure we will be seeing a lot of working out pics from his public profiles very soon.

David F. Sandberg will be the director and the movie is scheduled to come out in April 2019. What do you think? Is this a good casting? Are you a fan of Levi? Can he match off against The Rock Dwayne Johnson who will be playing SHAZAM’s nemesis, Black Adam?

Something has been off in the Marvel Comic Book Universe for some time. So there is a new direction being taken in the coming months with Legacy #1. This one shot issue supplies lots of different stories that may interconnect, but also give turning points in many of the main characters that made Marvel great. Major spoilers in this video. Remember though, this is not DC Rebirth. (I’m lying, it is totally Marvel trying to their own version of DC’s Rebirth)

Bobby Drake aka Iceman takes on Wolverine’s bisexual son – Daken. Although it is a short fight, we do get to see some slightly sexual tension between the two as well. It’s a great issue and we see more of Iceman’s personal life start to come to the surface with a huge shocking ending.

Bobby Drake aka Iceman has come out as being a gay Omega Level Mutant. His friends and teammates know. But he has dated women in the past and none of them have been personally spoken to. Until this issue. Kitty Pryde and Bobby go on a mission to recruit a new teenager who’s mutant ability has just recently developed. But first Bobby has to endure an awkward plane ride with her to discuss their past. And I did not know that he could make his ‘Snowmen’ come alive like Queen Elsa. That’s cool!

Since Bobby Drake aka Iceman came out as being gay, there has been a lot of controversy over this decision in Marvel Comics. Personally, I think it’s a great idea to show a character that has been closeted for years to finally come out in his adult life. Of course this had to happen after his younger time displace self outed him first. But that’s another topic. This is a great first issue for this ongoing series that was written by Sina Grace and illustrated by Alessandro Vitti.

The bisexual Shatterstar finally gets the Marvel Legends treatment. Even better is that it’s the 90’s version of Shatterstar. Not that the current version is horribly drawn, but I like classic Shatterstar so much better. Here’s my thoughts on this Marvel Legends piece. Definitely worth it for any X-Force fan out there. Thank you Sam for getting me this figure!

Carnage, the Marvel Select figure. This guy is beautiful! Carnage’s alter ego, Kletus Kassidy, is probably the second most famous of all the symbiote wearing characters in the Marvel Universe. He is psychotic and a completely blood thirsty in his ways. Unlike his “father” Venom, he has no moral code and kills indiscriminately. This figure is a great representation of his character.

Venom! The original Eddie Brock version of Venom is by far my favorite of the hosts to have the Venom symbiote in the Marvel Universe. He has had numerous mini-series and ongoing series in the past to document his adventures. He was the Lethal Protector and his Marvel Select toy is badass! Check out my thoughts on this guy.
