Justice League comes out this week. Some people have already seen it and others are seeing it opening night. I will not get to see it until Friday, which feels like an eternity! I have my hopes set at a medium level, so I’m not looking to be disappointed, but I am hoping to be thoroughly entertained. I will not hold this up to a precedence that it will be the most awesome thing ever, but I will call it out if it it just complete garbage. Word of mouth from other geeks that have already seen it do say that it is much better than they thought it would be. That’s good to hear. Everyone has their own opinions and sometimes a great movie by one person could be a complete waste of time to another. So I’ll judge for myself. Are you seeing it? Are you excited? Do you not care?

Holy hell, the first image of Young Justice: Outsiders, Season 3 has been shown. We have Spoiler and Arrowette in the mix. FUCK YES! And I am fairly confident that Tim did make this cut. I mean that does look like him in the picture. There was rumor that he was going to be phased out so that fucking Damian Wayne could be brought in. Luckily if that does happen, at least Tim will be there for some of the story. Regardless, this looks great!

If you are not aware of all of the characters, here is the breakdown from left to right: Static Shock (love the new look), Kid Flash (formerly Impulse), (Red) Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette (although it looks like Speedy), Arsenal, and Beast Boy. The senior Young Justice members have not been shown, yet. So I’m curious how Aqualad, Miss Martian, Superboy, Artemis (Tigress), Nightwing will look in this update. Maybe a new Young Justice comic book is not too far away! The image below is fake, but I can dream! What do you guys think of the line up so far for Young Justice Outsiders?

Justice League Dark – The DC Animated movie has come out. A magical supernatural problem has happened around the planet that the Justice League cannot handle on their own. They realize that the event is magical in nature and that outside magical superheroes are needed to help. Constantine is brought in and he rounds up several other supernatural characters to fight this foe. Great movie with some minor flaws, but very entertaining. Check out my thoughts on the movie in this video.

Other than the usual plot of “facing a greater enemy,” most details on the new Justice League movie have not leaked. There are lots of speculation as to how the story will unfold either involving Darseid, Atlantis or combinations of threats. One thing for sure though is that the costumes and looks of the characters are totally rocking! Aquaman looks like he’s one of the most powerful members. Cyborg looks straight out of a comic book and his design is so sweet! Wonder Woman always looks like she’s about fuck someone up, and I love how badass she is! I am getting very antsy to find out more on this movie. Despite Zack Snyder still directing it, I do hope for the best.

So far we know by DC that: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

The Ray is back in the DC Universe and will be joining the Justice League of America. This one-shot issue serves as a new origin and a coming out story for the Ray, also known as Raymond Terrill. Grant Morrison re-envisioned the character as being a gay man in the Multiversity story and this translated over into the main DC Universe. Raymond has been absent mostly from the DC Universe in the past couple of years. This issue has writer Steve Orlando re-telling a great coming of age superhero story that keeps many of his basic roots from the former DC Universe while also re-imagining other aspects. Artist Stephen Byrne illustrates each panel great with an almost cartoon vibe coming from it. Great issue and spectacular way to usher in a character that will be deservedly part of a heroic superhero team in the DC Universe.

Never did I think that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would ever cross over into the DC Universe, but writer Tom Taylor and artist Stephen Byrne do just that! This first issue has a huge catastrophe take place that is set 36 hours in the future with Superman consoling Zack, the Black Ranger for something that has occurred. We soon see that there was an event taking place between the Justice League and the Power Rangers that has lead to an epic journey.

Ever wonder about how one of the most famous ginger superheroes in the Class Comics Universe started on his adventures? Go back to 1943 and we get out answer. Not only are former superheroes from the past explored, but we find some connections with other Class Comics characters that started in this book. The trade paperback collection of Naked Justice Beginnings collects the first 4 issues of the origin story for Felix Himner, aka Naked Justice. This book was published by Bruno Gmünder, written by Patrick Fillion. The art was mostly completed by Jacob Mott in issues #1-3 and by JC Soto in issue number #4.

This makes me happy. I was reading a post on Gizmodo, about Young Justice cartoon series co-creator Greg Weisman, who tweeted that there are already LGBT characters in the Young Justice universe. However because of cartoon restraints in seasons 1 and 2, the acknowledgement of non-heterosexuals could not be made.

There were so many follow up tweets with the implications that LGBTQ representation is not only viable in the series but that the characters already exist. Now that their orientations can acknowledged, I am so much more excited about season 3. Romance is not the focus of the show, but it will be nice to see playful flirting between heroes from the same gender as being genuine and not just implications.

Now the question is, who are the character(s) that we have already seen that are gay/bi? Miss Martian is a shapeshifter and can become a male. That could happen. Especially with her being an alien and not perceiving sexuality the same as humans.

We could get an Aqualad who is bisexual. He had a thing for Tula but he could also have a thing for Tempest now instead. His comic book counterpart, Jackson Hyde has been revealed to be gay. They are technically different characters with different origins but they could have this in common.

I would LOVE for my boy Tim Drake to come out as being gay. The internet would figuratively come to an end if fans finally got a Superboy/Robin romantic thing happen. Yeah, I know it won’t happen, but I can dream dammit!

My bet is that Blue Beetle and Impulse have a thing. If you watch season 2, they had a very (b)romantic thing going on to the point that Impulse seemed as though he cared in a different way. So many people have speculated what that was all about. This would give so much more meaning for both of them. I support it!

Conservative heterosexuals will probably briefly freak out over this since they are not being pandered to 100% across the board as they usually are, but we already have several LGBTQ characters in other cartoons shows. It makes sense to have this same representation happen in a superhero cartoon that is slightly more young adult oriented and based on DC characters that are as diverse as Young Justice. Although whenever someone who is NOT heterosexual is said to be shown in a show or cartoon, most conservatives automatically assume that sex will be taking place. No sex has ever been shown in Young Justice. Nothing past light kissing has been shown. This will remain the same. I feel that acknowledging heterosexual relationships should be the same as acknowledging non-heterosexuals relationships and remain constant with their displays of affection.

I cannot wait until news surfaces of when Season 3 will air. I will more than likely binge watch the first two seasons this week, again. What do you think?

justice-league-dark-movie-starts-2016

The Justice League is known for saving Earth from cosmic threats. But when the world is facing supernatural/magical threats, the Justice League Dark fills in. This is so cool! I’ve never been the biggest Justice League Dark fan, but I am stoked for this movie to come out. If anything, just to have another badass version of the bisexual Constantine in animated form.

Justice League Dark is set to be released in early 2017.
