Holy hell, adult Bobby Drake aka Iceman, finally gets his first man on man kiss. It is totally worth the wait too! Him coming out as a gay man in his adult life is great. Also him being awkward in his interactions with other gay men is believable and such a cute story to read. This is a great title and I love how the story has progressed.

What would be a good name for an archenemy for the GayComicCorps? The nemesis is gay himself and has more like an Xavier vs. Magneto relationship to the Corp. This is not an Anti-Gay man and he is not a self hating closeted character at all. Both sides want equality for the LGBT community. But both sides use different means to achieve this goal. What do you think would be a good name?

Bobby Drake aka Iceman has come out as being a gay Omega Level Mutant. His friends and teammates know. But he has dated women in the past and none of them have been personally spoken to. Until this issue. Kitty Pryde and Bobby go on a mission to recruit a new teenager who’s mutant ability has just recently developed. But first Bobby has to endure an awkward plane ride with her to discuss their past. And I did not know that he could make his ‘Snowmen’ come alive like Queen Elsa. That’s cool!

The Pride #1 – This entails Fabman gathering together a host of LGBT superheroes in his universe to form their own team. This first issue is great as it gives purpose for the team and introduces a several new heroes to an otherwise new universe.

Since Bobby Drake aka Iceman came out as being gay, there has been a lot of controversy over this decision in Marvel Comics. Personally, I think it’s a great idea to show a character that has been closeted for years to finally come out in his adult life. Of course this had to happen after his younger time displace self outed him first. But that’s another topic. This is a great first issue for this ongoing series that was written by Sina Grace and illustrated by Alessandro Vitti.

What gay anime series do you like? There are endless amounts of animated shows around the world and Japanese anime is a weakness of mine. I have watched many series, both good and bad. I always lean towards adventure fun series. I am no where near being an anime buff or otaku (which is really a negative term), so I’m always looking for new series that I know nothing about.

Although one thing I have realized is that even though many of the series I watch have at least one lesbian and/or bisexual female character, but unless the series is specifically a gay series dedicated to just their relationship, male characters are rare. Almost every series seems to explore female sexuality with fluidity. Males, not so much. In fact if a male has some sexual tension with another male, many times it is for a joke. Naruto’s first kiss is with his rival/best friend Sasuke and it was a mistake and big laugh. Although I thought Sasuke was gay up until recently.

Many Yaoi series exists. Yaoi is more geared towards a romantic set up and is usually written by women for women who enjoy seeing men in a romantic pairing. To me, honestly, most are boring. But that is an overgeneralized view. Not all are bad. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is a decent series.

Love Stage is another popular Yaoi series. I made the attempt to watch it and couldn’t get through the first episode. But many people do like it.

In the series DRAMAtical Murder, Aoba and Noiz kiss. This story revolves around a young man named Aoba who works in a junk shop. An online cyber game called “Rhyme” becomes popular on the island he lives on. Noiz suffers from CIPA his inability to feel pain also causes him to be reckless. Noiz kisses Aoba to show that kissing is no big deal.

Cardcaptor Sakura – Toya x Yukito
Sakura lives a pretty normal life with her older brother, Toya. One day Sakura discovers a glowing book. After opening the book and releasing the cards within, Sakura is tasked with collecting each of those magical cards. Toya’s main relationship is with his best friend Yukito, the two have unspoken romantic feelings for each other.

Future Diary – Akise x Yuki: Yukiteru Amano is a 14-year-old loner who observes life and jots down the events on his cell phone. His only friends are Deus Ex Machina, the God of Space and Time, and his assistant Muru Muru. Deus transforms Yukiteru’s phone into a Future Diary, capable of predicting the future up to ninety days. Akise becomes a close ally to Yuki, Akise quickly grows to love Yuki and wishes for him to become God.

This is just a small list, there are numerous other series out there that exist, but what series do you enjoy that has a gay plot with some of its characters? I am curious cause I’m always looking to find a new show to watch.

Walking Bed- Class Comics zombie parody based on Image’s Walking Dead comic book. This features Erick and Glenn as the sole survivors of their group and their intimate budding relationship. Great comic book, and I forgot it was a parody by the end of the story. Total surprise at the conclusion.

I have researched this a bit but I do not know when we first saw a man on man gay kiss in mainstream comic books. Women have been kissing each other since forever apparently, but man on man is a bit more rare. We have probably seen some comical kisses between male characters like when Bugs Bunny constantly kissed his male enemies in any Looney Tunes cartoon. But when did we get our first actual romantic kiss between two men?

Wolverine and Hercules first kissed in Marvel’s 2013’s X-Treme X-Men #10. But that could not have been the first kiss in mainstream comics, right?

Before Logan and the son of Zeus kissed, Shatterstar and Rictor locked lips in X-Factor #45 in 2009. Technically both are bisexual or pansexual, but it counts as a nice romantic kiss between two male characters that had been hinted at being involved with each other all the way back to the 1990s.

You probably already know about Hulkling and Wiccan being a couple. They are arguably one of the most famous comic book couples of all time. But did you know they were together and published from 2009 to 2013 before readers got to see them kiss in 2012’s Young Avengers: The Children’s Crusade #9?

Midnighter and Apollo are one of DC Comic’s most famous couples- gay or straight. They were originally meant as badass re-interpretations of Batman and Superman who do not have the same moral implications as their source material. But they have since then changed to become their own unique characters. They were originally introduced back in 1998’s Stormwatch #4.

Bloke kissed his unnamed boyfriend in X-Force #118. This was way back in 2001. That may not seem like a big deal, but not a lot happened in that year with gay comic books at all. Unfortunately this was a really unmemorable series. I had to go back and read this series and I personally did not like this interpretation of X-Force and its art. But it did count as two men that were kissing.

I do not know if Image’s Savage Dragon #49 counts or not. I have always thought of Image as being the 3rd mainstream comic book universe. This issue was in May 1998 and the issue featured a character known as Super-Tough kissing his former sidekick Young-Tough. They locked lips after being separated for years. The writer is Erik Larson and he made it seem as though this was no big deal at the time. I mean wow, in 1998 that must have been a huge deal.

Was there a kiss that happened before this? Poor Kevin was introduced into Archie Comics back in 2010 and made out to be openly gay but did not get to kiss his boyfriend until 2013. It seems unfortunate that gay men get the short end of the stick in the comic verses everywhere. But it is our fate. Was there a gay man on man kiss that I am unaware of? Let me know. I cannot find more that has happened before that date. My comic book knowledge is limited, so I am not sure.

Our favorite purple demon from the Class Comics Universe is back in Tales of the Demon Taro #2. This time Deimos is trying to infiltrate a demon slave trade. In order to do this, he has to learn how to be a slave himself. This issue has 3 stories all written by Patrick Fillion and drawn by different artists.
