Batman #17 – Bane kidnaps all of Batman’s extended family that excludes his sidekicks.
Batwoman Rebirth – Batwoman gets her own ongoing series and it starts here with her own retelling of her origin
Sam Wilson Captain America #19 – Rage is on trial and even with testimony that would prove his innocence, he is still found guilty. This is not well for the city.
Nightwing #15 – Dick’s ass is awesome! And he dates a Defacer aka Shawn Tsang.
Spider-Man #13 – Miles and Spider-Gwen get even closer together in this issue in an alternate reality.
The Clone Conspiracy #5 – Everything is wrapped up in a nice little package at the end of this mini-series. No it’s not, that was sarcasm. So many loose ends on this series that will leave it wide open for Ben Reilly to return to the Spider-Verse.
Superman #17 – It almost felt like a filler issue, but there will be later repercussions with the surrounding farmlands of the Kent farm with this issue.
Venom #4 – Lee Price is the current host for the Venom symbiote and he’s not the nicest of guys. He’s not the most likable of guys either. He takes on the Scorpion in this issue in the hopes to please the Black Cat.

The Unworthy Thor #4 – Odinson finally gets close to the Ultimate Thor’s hammer. Next issue is when everything goes down!
Inhumans vs. X-Men #4 – The Inhumans escape and they’re about to make their counter strike against the X-Men.

Tim Drake is my boy. He is the best Robin (in my opinion) and my favorite comic book hero of all time. In his third mini series known as Robin III – Cry of the Huntress has him once again on his own taking down a mafia counterfeit ring while taking on one of Batman’s physically strongest villains – KGBeast. Luckily he has the help of the Huntress on his side, but that still does not make it much easier for him. Awesome series and paves the way for Robin to have his own ongoing series not long after this one ended.

It’s comic book day! My favorite day of the week. This time we have Walking Dead #164 with Rick and his people about to be over whelmed by hordes of walkers surrounding their establishments. Star Wars #28 has Yoda learning new force tricks and completely going out on his own on a Jedi mission with no other Jedi in site. Darth Maul #1 – My favorite Sith starts out on his own adventure before Episode 1 and shows how much of a badass he really is. Nightwing #14 establishes Dick Grayson as THE superhero in Blüdhaven. Plus he has a glorious ass. Batman #16 – Batman starts a war with Bane over possession of the Psycho Pirate. Bane makes the first strike and it is pretty darn severe. All New X-Men #18 – Cyclops comes to grips with his future self being a douchebag. That’s about it. Finally is Back to the Future – Biff to the Future #1 – This is the beginning of the alternate universe from when Biff gained the Sports Almanac and became a rich powerful man. It is a very dark!

A couple weeks ago I picked up the trade paperback of Cryptozoic Man after seeing it being advertised on a past season of AMC’s Comic Book Men. I love the show. I know it is scripted reality, but it is entertaining to see some of the toys and comics being brought in and showcased. The comic was written by Bryan Johnson and illustrated by Walter Flanagan of that show. The idea centers around a man who is stitched together with different mythological monsters of the modern world. Like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Each is a guardian of a nexus port to other dimensions. To say the least, it is a very unique comic book. It is quite confusing and the non-linear story telling leaves a lot of questions for the reader. Check out my thoughts on the comic series in the video below.

Walking Bed- Class Comics zombie parody based on Image’s Walking Dead comic book. This features Erick and Glenn as the sole survivors of their group and their intimate budding relationship. Great comic book, and I forgot it was a parody by the end of the story. Total surprise at the conclusion.

The Ray is back in the DC Universe and will be joining the Justice League of America. This one-shot issue serves as a new origin and a coming out story for the Ray, also known as Raymond Terrill. Grant Morrison re-envisioned the character as being a gay man in the Multiversity story and this translated over into the main DC Universe. Raymond has been absent mostly from the DC Universe in the past couple of years. This issue has writer Steve Orlando re-telling a great coming of age superhero story that keeps many of his basic roots from the former DC Universe while also re-imagining other aspects. Artist Stephen Byrne illustrates each panel great with an almost cartoon vibe coming from it. Great issue and spectacular way to usher in a character that will be deservedly part of a heroic superhero team in the DC Universe.

I have researched this a bit but I do not know when we first saw a man on man gay kiss in mainstream comic books. Women have been kissing each other since forever apparently, but man on man is a bit more rare. We have probably seen some comical kisses between male characters like when Bugs Bunny constantly kissed his male enemies in any Looney Tunes cartoon. But when did we get our first actual romantic kiss between two men?

Wolverine and Hercules first kissed in Marvel’s 2013’s X-Treme X-Men #10. But that could not have been the first kiss in mainstream comics, right?

Before Logan and the son of Zeus kissed, Shatterstar and Rictor locked lips in X-Factor #45 in 2009. Technically both are bisexual or pansexual, but it counts as a nice romantic kiss between two male characters that had been hinted at being involved with each other all the way back to the 1990s.

You probably already know about Hulkling and Wiccan being a couple. They are arguably one of the most famous comic book couples of all time. But did you know they were together and published from 2009 to 2013 before readers got to see them kiss in 2012’s Young Avengers: The Children’s Crusade #9?

Midnighter and Apollo are one of DC Comic’s most famous couples- gay or straight. They were originally meant as badass re-interpretations of Batman and Superman who do not have the same moral implications as their source material. But they have since then changed to become their own unique characters. They were originally introduced back in 1998’s Stormwatch #4.

Bloke kissed his unnamed boyfriend in X-Force #118. This was way back in 2001. That may not seem like a big deal, but not a lot happened in that year with gay comic books at all. Unfortunately this was a really unmemorable series. I had to go back and read this series and I personally did not like this interpretation of X-Force and its art. But it did count as two men that were kissing.

I do not know if Image’s Savage Dragon #49 counts or not. I have always thought of Image as being the 3rd mainstream comic book universe. This issue was in May 1998 and the issue featured a character known as Super-Tough kissing his former sidekick Young-Tough. They locked lips after being separated for years. The writer is Erik Larson and he made it seem as though this was no big deal at the time. I mean wow, in 1998 that must have been a huge deal.

Was there a kiss that happened before this? Poor Kevin was introduced into Archie Comics back in 2010 and made out to be openly gay but did not get to kiss his boyfriend until 2013. It seems unfortunate that gay men get the short end of the stick in the comic verses everywhere. But it is our fate. Was there a gay man on man kiss that I am unaware of? Let me know. I cannot find more that has happened before that date. My comic book knowledge is limited, so I am not sure.

USAvengers #1 – Another #1 from Marvel It is nice to see the New Mutants together briefly and I always love Red Hulk. But stop with the number #1’s.
Batman #14 – Catwoman and Batman have one last night together before she has to be re-incarcerated. They make it a great last night.
NIghtwing #12 – Dick continues to establish himself in Bloodhaven with Orca making an appearance.
Sam Wilson Captain America #17 – Rage and the new Falcon make their team dynamics known.
Walking Dead #162 – The Whisperer War is over. But Rick and his people have a lot more to fear than that.
Superman #14 – Some alien entities are collecting Supermen from alternate dimensions. Out Superman aims to stop that.
Finally in The Unworthy Thor #3 – Odinson has warrior madness briefly and fights his best friend, Beta Ray Bill. Great story and soon more will be revealed from the Ultimate Thor’s hammer that has yet to be unclaimed.
