Variety reported that a Batgirl solo movie is being made and that Joss Whedon is the director. Thankfully the movie will take place in the DC Cinematic Universe. Wow, I totally was not expecting that to be done. But I’ll take it. Whedon is a great director and a huge geek himself, so there is a lot of potential for this. This will most likely be attached or at least have some connection to the solo Batman movie coming out with Ben Affleck and the Sirens movie that is a spin off from the Suicide Squad sequel being made. Fingers crossed that this will be as well done as Joss’s Marvel movie stint.

There have been several Batgirls over the years. Barbara Gordon is by far the most well known out of all of them and will most likely be the version selected for this movie. However I would love to see some of her counterparts, like Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown show up too.

Everyone loves the Batfamily. Batgirl has been part of the Bat line for a while. Barbara Gordon first took up the mantle in 1967 and has been the most famous out of all of the women by far. This figure is part of the Designer series and was a gift from my buddy Albert. Thank you dude!

Batgirl Superhero DC Girls (5).Movie_Snapshot

Batgirl, also known as Barbara Gordon is the next figure from the DC Super Hero Girls toy line. This figure is on a 6 inch figure scale. Granted these figures are geared towards girls, but I do think that some boys would enjoy them as well.

The actress who played Batgirl in the 1960’s Adam West Batman series, Yvonne Craig, has passed away. This is sad. She passed away on Monday, 8/17/2015 from Breast Cancer. She was 78 years old and had been battling cancer for some time with extreme treatment that made complications worse with her liver. Her website states:

“She had been in chemo almost continuously for the past two plus years since being diagnosed and that had weakened her immune system as well as her body. This didn’t dampen her sense of humor or her spirit, she intended to fight and win this battle. In the end, her mind still wanted to fight but her body had given up.”

Although I have admittedly not seen most of the Batman series, I do know that her role made her iconic being a female superhero. I hope her passing was not painful.
