Flash of Two Worlds

The CW just showed everyone what the new Jay Garrick is going to look like in the upcoming season 2 of The Flash! This character is from an alternate reality and is played by Teddy Sears. I think this season is going to be so cool. Jay Garrick is often considered to be an older version of the Flash, and in some realities, he is just as young as Barry. This is going to be interesting, being that Teddy is a pretty young man, so he is going to be similar in age to Barry in this reality. I can’t wait.

Keiynan Lonsdale Wally West

Also, if you were not aware, we also just recently saw that the CW cast Kid Flash actor, Keiynan Lonsdale. We will not get a ginger Wally, but I am still happy with the choice that we got with Australian actor Keiynan. The show is geared a bit more towards the New 52 DC Universe, which has Wally West and his family as being a black family. So it makes a lot of sense for Wally to be portrayed as black actor, like his aunt, Iris and not be adopted.

Jem Trailer 2

This is so sad…why are they doing this? Synergy is a little talking robot? What?! They’re just trying to mess with this now. It’s awful. I will continue to read the comic book and hope to god that this movie is all a bad dream. What do you think of it?

Arrow vs Stardust

Wow! I have not been interested in WWE in years. I loved it as a kid and I even watched it a bit in college because all my roommates were really big into. But after that, I forgot about it mostly. But I may actually watch the PayPerView WWE SummerSlam, just to see Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Arrow) fight Stardust. I don’t even know who Stardust. But I want to see them fight now! Well done WWE, you got me back!

Matt Ryan will reprise his role as John Constantine in the upcoming season of Arrow. That’s something I guess. Poor Constantine got the short end of the stick for his series. Being aired on Friday night is a killer slot and worse, NBC never treated the show with respect. There was barely any advertisements for it. But his character will be crossing over onto Arrow, so that’s something to be happy about. In case you didn’t know, Constantine is a bi-sexual sorcerer exorcist. That’s pretty unique.

Like It Is

Ever see a movie based on a bare knuckle gay boxer? Neither have I, until now. This is entertaining but really lacks a lot of direction. There definitely isn’t any real love story involved here. The main characters are not relate-able, but not because of them being fake but the characters just do not seem all that real. Which is a shame, it is a unique story.

Jem and the Holograms 3 IDW Comic Book Review (2).Movie_Snapshot

Stonewall Poster

So much controversy regarding the upcoming Stonewall movie directed Roland Emmerich. History apparently is being re-written, again, for cinematic purposes. The trailer for this movie was released and as much as I can see from my own knowledge, I do not see any of the key players that should be recognized in this film. From all intents and purposes, this trailer makes it seem as though the main character, Jonathan Rhys Meyers who plays Trevor, is the first person to throw a brick that sparked off the original Stonewall Riots. Which I hope that everyone knows is completely inaccurate as trans women Sylvia Riveria, and Marsha P. Johnson, are those that have been credited as being the most influential and initiators of these events. But this is just the trailer. Maybe we will see something completely different as trailers are often misleading.

Sylvia and Marsha

I understand many heterosexual people within the U.S. do not know very much about historic moments that involve the LGBT community. Even many members of the LGBT community can be misinformed about events that occurred within the last 40-50 years. I by no means am a historian myself. Most of my knowledge on LGBT history has been from internet searches in the past decade. It is not like these events are covered in high school history classes. Many colleges do offer some courses that would be beneficial, but not many and not everyone has access to these classes.

I will watch the movie and try to be as unbiased as possible, but I wonder who is the target audience? Is the LGBT community? Is it the heterosexual community?

Hercules is not Bisexual (3).Movie_Snapshot

Yeah I couldn’t let this go. I did blogged about topic earlier, but I’ve had a couple people request to do a video on the topic. If you are not aware of this, Hercules is very much a bisexual character. Not just in the comics, but in history. Marvel Editor in Chief, Axel Alonso has stated that despite his past, the Greek god is only after women from this point onward. Why? Seriously, why would he make the character straight? Are straight males afraid of picking up a title that has a bisexual male as the main protagonist?

Hercules Gay 2

I think this is a waste of an opportunity to show a very different character that could be opened up to so many new storylines and to include a new audience that would be interested in reading a character that has a very rich backstory already established.

Midnighter #3 is out and I’m still liking this series. Midnighter is one of the few gay superheroes that is headlining his own title in a mainstream comic book company. I hope this trend spreads to other companies and we can see more titles like this. Check out my thoughts on this issue below.
