A couple weeks ago I picked up the trade paperback of Cryptozoic Man after seeing it being advertised on a past season of AMC’s Comic Book Men. I love the show. I know it is scripted reality, but it is entertaining to see some of the toys and comics being brought in and showcased. The comic was written by Bryan Johnson and illustrated by Walter Flanagan of that show. The idea centers around a man who is stitched together with different mythological monsters of the modern world. Like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Each is a guardian of a nexus port to other dimensions. To say the least, it is a very unique comic book. It is quite confusing and the non-linear story telling leaves a lot of questions for the reader. Check out my thoughts on the comic series in the video below.

It’s Mumm-Ra – The Ever Living! This was the Thundercats Classics Exclusive figure available from MattyCollector’s Thundercat subscription toy series. He is a great scult and I love how he turned out. A shame that he is the last of my Thundercats figures, but I hope this line will be continued on later.

It’s comic book day! Lots of great comics came out this week.

Superman Action Comics #972 – Lex and Superman become uneasy allies and forget past issues.
Wonder Woman #15 has Princess Diana in a mental health hospital. She has lost it after finding out that her past is completely a lie.
Batman Beyond #4 – Terry gets his new costume and it is pretty fracking cool!
Steve Rogers Captain America #10 – Steve’s origin with being a secret Hydra Agent is being explored more with his background before the super soldier serum.
Hulk #2 – Jennifer Walters is struggling with her own anger issues and is also trying not to ‘Hulk Out’ with the problems she’s face in her personal life.
Inhumans vs X-Men #3- The X-Men have made the first strike. Now the Inhumans are going to make the next strike in this war.
Star Wars #27 – A Yoda backstory before Episode I. Anything Yoda is cool!
Thanos #3 – Thanos is dying. He is also attacked by the Shi’ar Imperial Guard and totally has his ass handed to him. It was awesome!

Walking Bed- Class Comics zombie parody based on Image’s Walking Dead comic book. This features Erick and Glenn as the sole survivors of their group and their intimate budding relationship. Great comic book, and I forgot it was a parody by the end of the story. Total surprise at the conclusion.

The Ray is back in the DC Universe and will be joining the Justice League of America. This one-shot issue serves as a new origin and a coming out story for the Ray, also known as Raymond Terrill. Grant Morrison re-envisioned the character as being a gay man in the Multiversity story and this translated over into the main DC Universe. Raymond has been absent mostly from the DC Universe in the past couple of years. This issue has writer Steve Orlando re-telling a great coming of age superhero story that keeps many of his basic roots from the former DC Universe while also re-imagining other aspects. Artist Stephen Byrne illustrates each panel great with an almost cartoon vibe coming from it. Great issue and spectacular way to usher in a character that will be deservedly part of a heroic superhero team in the DC Universe.

Lion-O takes it upon himself to try and save the Prince of Eternia, which blows up in his face because it causes He-Man to go insane. We finally get a battle between the King of the Thundercats and the Most Powerful Man in the Universe. It is epic!

Pumyra from the Thundercats Classics figures from MattyCollector is out and is pretty awesome. Besides being slightly taller than expected and a slightly off eye paint app, this is a great figure. I will be giving her a great home among all of my other toy figures, especially my Masters of the Universe He-Man figures.

Never did I think that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would ever cross over into the DC Universe, but writer Tom Taylor and artist Stephen Byrne do just that! This first issue has a huge catastrophe take place that is set 36 hours in the future with Superman consoling Zack, the Black Ranger for something that has occurred. We soon see that there was an event taking place between the Justice League and the Power Rangers that has lead to an epic journey.
