getrealbritish

I may not win any friends with this video, but I did not like the movie Get Real. I know it’s considered a classic gay movie, but it’s just a movie that didn’t sit well with me. I liked the characters a lot and the story was well written but I considered it a sad movie that had an ending that was not very positive. It definitely is not the worse, but a long shot, but it was not what I consider a gay classic movie.

attack-on-titan-live-action-film-poster

If you watch any Japanese movie this year, watch Attack on Titan. This series is incredible! I read some of the manga, but the anime is what really got me hooked. They both follow each other pretty closely and the next season of the anime is set to air soon.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept of the series, it is based on a future where giants have suddenly appeared out of no where on Earth. These giants have only one purpose, and that is to consume humanity. Literally. They eat people, and they have no real weakness with the exception of a spot on the back of their neck that can immobilize them. They feel no pain and have no feelings of emotion at all. Most of the world’s population had been consumed with the exception of small pockets of populations that were able to build walls to keep the giants out. This story is set on the city of Titan.

What really got me into this series was seeing the main heroes swing through the city. Since military armed forces are useless against these creatures, people that are capable of swinging around, similar to Spider-Man, are the only ones capable of getting close to the giants to strike them on the back of the neck. And the images in the anime are great. I’m hoping that the live movie is going to keep these high swinging scenes in play. Check out the movie trailer below:

This was a pretty good. I know a lot of haters don’t want to see Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as anti-heroes, but I liked this story. It’s completely different from what we’re used to seeing, but I think it was a pretty cool change. Here’s my almost non-spoilery video review.

Giant Robot Warrior Maintenance Crew

Ever wonder how giant robots are maintained in Power Rangers? Or why Voltron always stayed in good shape after battles? Well Giant Robot Maintenance Crew explains exactly why how it happens. It’s a unique comic because we never get to see the behind the scenes in stories like this.

Slave-Leia

So, would you buy a Slave Leia toy for a kid? Apparently there’s a big deal being made by a dad over the Slave Leia toy being released in just about all toy stores. Keep in mind, the toys are more meant for adult collectors, but like many toys, they’re still displayed in kid sections of any store. This goes without saying Toys R Us is almost 100% kid friendly. Or it should be at least. The father in this video does make valid points, and we should make strong role models for young girls to live up to, but come on. Slave Leia is shown in the movie and most kids have seen Return of the Jedi. Multiple times. I dare ask if he’s shown his girls the movie, and if so, then he’s a hypocrite.

I don’t know, it seems odd that a parent would have any issue with a toy like this when there are many other toys that could be considered much more objectionable. I don’t think he looked through some of the other toy aisles. If he has a problem with this, I’m surprised he didn’t have an issue with the serial murder toys that exist. I mean sheltering kids from every aspect of society is not how to build a strong independent child.

But anyways, what do you think? Is this a bad thing? Do you agree with the dad?

New Movie (3).Movie_Snapshot

I just got Peekablue from the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line. The line may not be as dead as some think, depending on your viewpoint on the recent San Diego Comic Con news, but regardless, we will be getting the vast majority of the last wave of figures.

Trick Kiss
I’m sure many of you have seen the classic movie – Trick. It’s the story of two guys trying to hook up but can’t seem to find a place to do it. In the meantime, they realize that maybe they want something more than just a sexual encounter. It is one of my favorite gay movies of all time.
Set in NYC, before the advent of dating apps but still modern enough to be recognizable to audiences even today, this was an incredibly fun movie to watch. If nothing else, just to see the sidekick characters storyline. Check out my video review on the movie below.

batman-vs-superman-spoilerish-story-rumors-surface

God I wish I was at San Diego Comic Con this weekend. So many geektastic news is being shown every day. Here’s the new Batman v. Superman Trailer where we FINALLY get to see Wonder Woman. Briefly. Very Briefly. But at least we see her finally.

Batman v Superman Wonder Woman Robin

And might I add- we see a Robin costume vandalized by the Joker, meaning that we more than likely have already had a Jason Todd who has probably been killed by the Joker at this point in the timeline. FUCK YEAH!

Wonder Woman 2
I still wish Wonder Woman’s costume had more color to it. I don’t know why none of the DC characters can have bright colors in their costumes yet.
