Never did I think that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would ever cross over into the DC Universe, but writer Tom Taylor and artist Stephen Byrne do just that! This first issue has a huge catastrophe take place that is set 36 hours in the future with Superman consoling Zack, the Black Ranger for something that has occurred. We soon see that there was an event taking place between the Justice League and the Power Rangers that has lead to an epic journey.

Apollo was killed by Mawzir and taken to hell by Neron. That’s bad for hell, because Midnighter fights his way to his boyfriend’s side. It’s a bloody battle, but he does his thing and gets there! Badass 4th issue and I am loving Steve Orlando’s writing.

It’s comic book day! So many great comics came out today. I could not get to all of them, but here’s what I did get to read.
Star Wars #26 – A back story with Yoda is always awesome!
Civil War II #8 – The Conclusion to this Marvel epic title is finally finished.
Hulk #1 – Jennifer Walters is taking the title of the Hulk after the death of her cousin Bruce Banner in the Civil War II story.
Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corp #11 – Hal is finally going to meet up with the rest of the Green Lantern Corp after Larfleeze has captured all of them.
Spider-Man #11 – Miles Morales dad is an agent of SHIELD and is probably going to go back into action.
Wonder Woman #13 – Diana is not taking her backstory being fake very well. She has gone into a crazy state that will affect her next storyline.
Batman Beyond #3 – Terry is under cover as a Joker Gang member, but we discover something very huge in the conclusion of this issue.
Detective Comics #947 – We get a glimpse of what happened to Tim Drake. Not much, but I’ll take it! We need a return of this character back to the DC Universe.

We are half way through the He-Man/Thundercats crossover from DC Comics. Skeletor has supposedly killed Mumm-Ra and taken the power of He-Man for himself. But luckily the Thundercats have finally entered the fight. We get to see an awesome clash of cats vs the Overload of Evil. It is an epic story that fans have been waiting to see for decades! Check out my thoughts on the issue in this video.

The third issue to Midnighter and Apollo’s mini series is out. To recap- Apollo is in hell and being held by Neron. Midnighter is fighting his way into hell to get his boyfriend back. It is as tough as it sounds. Great read! Written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Fernando Blanco.

It’s comic book day! Richard Rider is back as Nova along side Sam Alexander in Nova #1. We have Superman meeting Frankenstein (the monster is actually called Frankenstein in the DC Universe) in Superman #12. Odinson, the Asgardian formerly known as Thor, is captured by an Elder of the Universe called the Collector, in The Unworthy Thor #2. Spider-Man meets the true Jackal and we get a huge can of ‘What the FRACK!?!’ in The Clone Conspiracy #3. Nightwing makes his new home in Bludhaven, FINALLY, in Nightwing #10. We also get nice treats of Dick Grayson’s ass in that issue as well. And last but not least, a long awaited meet up takes place with Wonder Woman ’77 and the Bionic Woman in Wonder Woman Meets the Bionic Woman #1.

Tim Drake is the bestest of the Robins in my opinion. The Joker’s Wild storyline is his first adventure in Gotham City while taking on the Joker without Batman. The story was originally published back in 1991 and helps establishes Tim’s supporting cast and also shows that he still has a far road ahead to being as strong of a superhero that he aspires to become.

It’s the second issue for the He-Man/Thundercats crossover that fans have been waiting to see for over 30 years. This issue is more Masters of the Universe heavy and barely shows the Thundercats, but we get an epic battle. The Mutants and Skeletor’s henchmen join forces to take on the Most Powerful Man in the Universe himself. Plus Skeletor has a huge upgrade thanks to Mumm-Ra. Great second issue!

The week we have Superboy and Robin trying to be more of a team in Superman #11. Nightwing teaming up with Superman in Nightwing #9. Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz taking on the Phantom Lantern in Green Lanterns #11. Batman is betrayed by Catwoman in Batman #11. Miles Morales’ friends are all looking for him in Spider-Man #9. We find out how Kaine survived and is a player in the Clone Conspiracy in Amazing Spider-Man #21. In Thanos #1 we have Thanos’ son Thane recruit the Champion and his uncle, the bisexual Starfox to take down the power crazy Titan. And finally in Sam Wilson Captain America #15 we have Demolition Man appear as a wrestler in UCW with his male partner. That was just awesome!

midnighter-and-apollo-2-3-movie_snapshot

The second issue to Midnighter and Apollo is out. Last we left our heroes, Apollo was killed and dragged to hell. Now Midnighter has to find a way to get to his boyfriend and save him. The irony of two heroes going to hell is not lost on me. This is a great issue, and so far I cannot wait to see how Midnighter saves his partner.
