Believe it or not, I’m walking on air! Did you know that there was an attempt at making The Greatest American Heroine spin off series? I had no idea until I researched the new Greatest American Hero reboot taking place by ABC. I admit I do not know the series well, but I have seen many clips online and know the premise of the show. According to Variety, ABC has given the order to make a female led reboot of the Greatest American Hero.

The plot synopsis for the series is introducing the character of Meera. She is a 30-year-old woman drinks tequila does karaoke and does not do much else in life. She is Indian-American and does not get along well with her family. Aliens entrust to her a suit with special abilities and the world will never be the same. So some similarities to the original show.

No word yet on who will play the main role of Meera. This is the third attempt at making a reboot to this series. The original series lasted for 3 seasons. Right now this new series only has the pilot ordered. So it may not even make it past the initial episode. Who knows though, right? What do you think of this? Good/Bad? Thoughts?

It’s comic book day. Lots of good titles came out today. Some were decent but others were damn awesome! Surprisingly the big titles like Doomsday Clock was dull in comparison to General Zod beating the crap out of a couple Green Lanterns. Check out my thoughts of the titles that I read in the attached video.

This is a true thing. There is a petition for this to happen over at www.change.org/p/make-the-joker-gay-again. I am always the first fanboy to want a character’s sexuality to be explored in anything other than heterosexuality. But the Joker?!

I admit I never believed that Joker and Harley were a real thing. Some writers would go back and forth as to his level of love tolerance for her, so I can see some fans leaning towards him being a heterosexual. However, he’s a psychotic mass murdering lunatic and I honestly never even thought of him as being even slightly sexual in any way. I always envisioned him being asexual. He may have a slight leaning towards homosexuality with his infatuation with Batman. Even that however, I never really thought of him ever as being full on wanting to be with Batman. More like a heterosexual sports fan that has a strange obsessive crush on an athlete.

There are a lot instances of the Joker’s obsession with Batman that could borderline love. One of my favorite was Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns story. Joker went into a catatonic state when Batman retired. Hearing the return of the Dark Knight, snapped the Joker out of it. That was a minor component of the story, but still worth nothing. If you are interested in seeing the petition or if you are inclined to even sign it, here’s the link: www.change.org/p/make-the-joker-gay-again

Dead Weight: Murder at Camp Bloom! There is a mystery that unravels at a weight loss camp in an Oregon forest that sets its campers on edge. Reported by Blaze, Roseanne will unfortunately be back as a Trump supporter in her return to tv. No, seriously. She stated: “It’s just realistic,” Barr said, adding that she’s always “attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and working-class people.” Despite the last season of Roseanne, I enjoyed the overall series. I was a small at the time when the series started, but my mother adored the sitcom with how much she related to the premise of the show. The idea of having a blue collar working class family that struggled paycheck to paycheck was premise that many shared in real life. Her character appeared to be much more anti-Trump during the original showing. So hearing how Roseanne Barr as a person supports the Führer Drumpf and that her character will be supporting Trump is so disheartening. I wanted to watch this new series originally but hearing about this leaves a very bitter taste. Are you going to watch it?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but everyone is also entitled to support or oppose that opinion as well. Roseanne will air March 27, 2018 on ABC.

What do you think of it? I love the actor Chris Wood and think he’s a total cutie. Especially with his facial hair. The costume is just so…whelming. I was hoping for more colors and maybe just a little more homage to more of his classic comic book counter part costumes. This is a realistic look but it’s just more of a biker look to me. It is not the worse, but it is nothing that great either. Do you think it?

Here’s a photoshopped image that was made of Mon-El a while back that looks a bit comic book-y, but still awesome in my opinion. I wish this was an inspiration for the costume. I can see this being a great addition to the Supergirl show.

It’s the first comic book day of the year 2018! There’s a couple cool titles that came out this week. The Supersons of Tomorrow storyline is what I’m the most excited about this week. Plus there’s a couple titles I did not even get a chance to read yet. Check out my thoughts in this week’s read in the attached video.

It’s comic book day! Lots of goodies came out this week.
Nightwing #35 – Dick goes up against limo drivers. No joke. We also get to see his ass very nicely.
The Mighty Thor #702 – Jane Foster’s reign of being Thor is near ending. She had a great run and her story has been epic.
Marvel Two in One – The Thing and The Human Torch – Together again for new adventures. Thanks to Doom.
Batman #37 – A double date between Batman and Catwoman and Superman and Lois. Very fun issue.
Superman #37 & SuperSons #11 -SuperSons of Tomorrow Part 1 and 2. The Tim Drake of the future is here and he’s trying to kill Jonathan Kent Superboy…for reasons unknown. This is a great story, because we have more mentioning and future appearances of adult Conner Kent.

Well damn. Numbers are what matters with any company and Iceman unfortunately did not have them. Iceman writer Sina Grace has posted that the Iceman solo series is coming to an end. He wrote a letter on his Facebook fanpage to let everyone know. This may seem like a small thing, as comic book titles come and go but it is quite sad to me. There are no ongoing mainstream comic book titles with a gay male superhero in the lead. This is the only one that Marvel has ever had. Northstar had a short limited series once. There have also been a few teams with LGBT representation. Wiccan and Hulkling are two of the more famous characters.

Unfortunately there has been a lot of hate for Iceman since he came out as a gay character. While true, some reviewers gave criticism on the story, many others criticized Iceman and many other Marvel titles as a “Social Justice Warrior” campaign. Some are even campaigning for Bobby to go back into the closet and become straight because they think that the teenage version of Jean Grey mind-raped teenage Bobby into being gay, and it affected his older counterpart. I doubt Marvel would go down that route, but it still is something that I have seen more than once on several other YouTube videos and on comic book forums. To add to this, the comic book – America is also on the chopping block. This is a title that has the first Latina queer character as the namesake of the series.

In the end, money is what keeps titles going, and Iceman just did not have the fan support. I do hope that Bobby Drake will be written well in the future. I’m already seeing haters rejoice making hateful and homophobic statements regarding Bobby’s character. All are saying that he should not have had a solo title and that Marvel should never ‘cater’ to a minority. Some of the homophobic comments I have read just today alone do hurt a lot. I know this is a comic book and does not matter in the scope of bigger things with life, but it is a comic book that was important to me. It was something I wanted to see since I was a kid and understood who I was.
