Xena

Holy crap, NBC wants to make a new Xena series. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “NBC and NBC Universal International are currently searching for a writer to board the reboot, which hails from original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi.” How fracking awesome is that!?

Apparently the original Xena, Lucy Lawless, wants to return back to the show herself. In fact, she wants to done the Xena armor once again. I think she looks great and I bet she could still make a badass Xena if the show continued on or was a reboot. Regardless of whether or not she would be cast as Xena, the idea of the show being made again is incredible.

Besides the Xena’s fanboys, Xena herself portrayed a very strong bi-sexual woman that portrayed incredible character, was more intelligent than even the ‘gods,’ and also was a great super heroine. I really hope that this gets going and I do hope that Lawless has some part in the series, even if she is not cast as Xena herself. I do imagine the sexuality would be more directly addressed this time around as opposed to the show hinting at her relationship with Gabrielle. Air date looks to be in 2016, which isn’t too far away!

attack-on-titan-live-action-film-poster

If you watch any Japanese movie this year, watch Attack on Titan. This series is incredible! I read some of the manga, but the anime is what really got me hooked. They both follow each other pretty closely and the next season of the anime is set to air soon.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept of the series, it is based on a future where giants have suddenly appeared out of no where on Earth. These giants have only one purpose, and that is to consume humanity. Literally. They eat people, and they have no real weakness with the exception of a spot on the back of their neck that can immobilize them. They feel no pain and have no feelings of emotion at all. Most of the world’s population had been consumed with the exception of small pockets of populations that were able to build walls to keep the giants out. This story is set on the city of Titan.

What really got me into this series was seeing the main heroes swing through the city. Since military armed forces are useless against these creatures, people that are capable of swinging around, similar to Spider-Man, are the only ones capable of getting close to the giants to strike them on the back of the neck. And the images in the anime are great. I’m hoping that the live movie is going to keep these high swinging scenes in play. Check out the movie trailer below:

Woodhouse

Anyone who watches the hilarious animated show, Archer, knows that the main character- Sterling Archer, has a heroin addicted butler named Woodhouse that pretty much raised Archer since his childhood. The voice actor for this character was George Coe, who has had a many memorable characters in his time. Unfortunately he just recently passed away from cancer. This is so sad, and I hope that he did not have go through too much pain at the end. He was 87 years old and he was noticeably missing this past season of Archer. I am now thinking that this absence from the show was because of his health complications. He will be missed.

Entertainment Weekly XMen Cover

Entertainment Weekly has shown new pics of the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse movie slated to be released next year. I’m really impressed with how good the costumes look. I mean we get a Psylocke with her bright purple ninja outfit from the 90’s. Magneto looks way more like Magneto.

Ivan Ooze

But what I’m the most impressed with is that we actually get a Storm that looks like Storm. And we have Storm with her mohawk!!! How fracking cool is that! She went through a wild phase in the 80’s and became very rambunctious and rebelled against her calmer side. She returned to this look recently in the comics too. Other than her 90’s Jim Lee look, this is definitely the coolest Storm. She even lost her powers for a time and was still able to kick Cyclop’s ass and take leadership away from him for a while. Good times!

Mohawk Storm
It’s a shame that it took this long to get costumes and the looks of the X-Men down in this movie. It has been labeled as being the last X-Men movie before they reboot the universe. Which actually seems like they already did reboot the universe, but whatever. I know Hugh Jackman has stated that he may not be coming back to the role again after this movie, unless it is to continue another role as Old Man Logan (long story, if you don’t know it, it’s not important right now). Maybe it could or couldn’t happen. I’ll just enjoy the ride and pretend that no other X-Movie came before this.

Ivan_Ooze 2

Anyways, what do you think? I’m very impressed with it so far myself. I don’t know why they replaced Apocalypse with Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers, but I can still live with that too. Maybe he will look more impressive on the screen when the movie is done.

Slave-Leia

So, would you buy a Slave Leia toy for a kid? Apparently there’s a big deal being made by a dad over the Slave Leia toy being released in just about all toy stores. Keep in mind, the toys are more meant for adult collectors, but like many toys, they’re still displayed in kid sections of any store. This goes without saying Toys R Us is almost 100% kid friendly. Or it should be at least. The father in this video does make valid points, and we should make strong role models for young girls to live up to, but come on. Slave Leia is shown in the movie and most kids have seen Return of the Jedi. Multiple times. I dare ask if he’s shown his girls the movie, and if so, then he’s a hypocrite.

I don’t know, it seems odd that a parent would have any issue with a toy like this when there are many other toys that could be considered much more objectionable. I don’t think he looked through some of the other toy aisles. If he has a problem with this, I’m surprised he didn’t have an issue with the serial murder toys that exist. I mean sheltering kids from every aspect of society is not how to build a strong independent child.

But anyways, what do you think? Is this a bad thing? Do you agree with the dad?

Midnighter 5

This October, Steve Orlando, writer of the openly gay superhero- Midnighter- is writing a story where he teams up with the biggest man whore of the DC Universe, and possibly bi character, Dick Grayson. You know this will be pretty awesome. In the past, Midnighter has already stated that he’d recognize Dick’s ass anywhere, so I for one can’t wait to read this comic book!

New Movie (3).Movie_Snapshot

I just got Peekablue from the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line. The line may not be as dead as some think, depending on your viewpoint on the recent San Diego Comic Con news, but regardless, we will be getting the vast majority of the last wave of figures.

Robin Costume WITHOUT Joker Defacing it

Someone re-colored the image of the Robin costume shown on the Batman v. Superman trailer and I have to admit. I kinda like it. It’s still got that ‘dark’ look that Warner Bros is trying so hard to do with their characters but still plays a nice homage to Robin. More than likely, this is Jason Todd but there’s so much speculation that this could be Dick Grayson instead. Who knows, I’m just happy that Robin was in this universe at some point.
