Holy Batsticks! According to Variety, one of DC Comics highest profile LGBT characters in the DC Universe may get her own TV show after her debut within the Arrowverse next fall. Caroline Dries is the writer for the project and has been credited with The Vampire Diaries, Melrose Place, and Smallville. In the comic book world, Batwoman’s alter ego, Kate Kane is a lesbian who has been in a relationships with Renee Montoya and Maggie Sawyer. She also is the cousin to Bruce Wayne. She comes from a military background following in the footsteps of her father. She has a lot of her personal issues that translates to her vigilante status and makes for a great character to develop on screen.

Batwoman will first appear in the big crossover event within the Arrowverse this fall. The CW did a wonderful job last season with the Cross Over on Earth X story that featured all of the Arrowverse series together in a four part story and I have high hopes for the next crossover this coming season. How will Batwoman be introduced without her famous cousin, Batman not being in the equation? That should be interesting as the Green Arrow and others have already mentioned Gotham City and Bruce Wayne but all in passing and nothing in direct tone towards Batman. So this should be interesting. What do you think about this?

This image (below) was posted by Rae Geiger, a character designer on the Netflix She-Ra series. I know a lot fans are on the fence about the new look while many love and many others hate this design. Personally, I will wait until I see the series. I think this is a huge departure from the original series in both premise and visualization however change is not always a bad thing. What do you think of this so far?

Anime Expo revealed a few new animations coming to Netflix in the near future. Besides getting a second season to Castlevania, we’re also getting UltraMan! Who is UltraMan? He is a superhero that fights Kaiju monsters with an array of special abilities that include size enhancements to grow as large as his adversary if necessary and he is heroic (usually). He technically never fought or teamed up with Godzilla, but there are very similar versions of both that have fought and teamed up. One famous meeting was Jet Jaguar (very UltraMan-ish) teaming up with Godzilla to fight Megalon. Netflix has been great with past animations and has an incredible version of Voltron that is currently in it’s 6th season. So I do not think we will have to worry about the cheesiness of the UltraMan in years past. This could be badass on so many levels!

There will be a pink vest, rainbow boxed version of Prince Adam from the Masters of the Universe Classics line available during San Diego Comic Comic Con 2018 made by Super7. This will be at the shop – Hordak’s Lair on July 18-19. This makes me so happy. Some other haters are not so much enthused but hardcore Masters of the Universe fans are just as ecstatic as I am. Although getting him will not be so easy to obtain.

Although this figure is titled ‘Laughing Prince Adam,’ from the cartoon and now famous What’s Going On video, I am calling him Pride Prince Adam. The original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 1980s cartoon showed a much more pink version of Prince Adam, He-Man’s secret identity. The toy version of Adam that was released in the 1980s however, had Adam in a maroon vest. I honestly never thought a pink version would ever be released, so this is great news!

Being a Masters of the Universe fan is something that I have made clear for years. There is a huge gay following of He-Man and his furry-underweared-muscle-bound-leather-clad companions for obvious reasons. This will be a tough figure to track down on a regular event and since the figure will not be at SDCC itself, but at Hordak’s Lair toyshop, it will be even more difficult to obtain one. Anyone going to try and pick this baby up? I hope that Super7 has made enough of them.

Hordak’s Lair is located at: 701 8th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

I had no idea that an animated movie was even being made. Oscar Isaac, better known to some as Poe Damaron is set to play Gomez while Charlize Theron is going to voice Morticia. I must say, both of these actors could play the real Morticia and Gomez if a live action version was ever made. Chloë Grace Moretz and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) will be the voices of Wednesday and Pugsley Addams. Nick Kroll will be Uncle Fester and wow, Bette Midler will be Grandmama. Holy hell, this is awesome! I’m a huge Addams fan and can’t wait to see this. We just have to wait until October 11, 2019.

Princess Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman returns in November, 2019 in Wonder Woman 1984. Set in the year 1984, they are going full on 80’s looks. However I have to say, I love Wonder Woman’s costume has not changed much with the exception of not having the leather harness and sword. Perhaps her costume is slightly brighter, but this could just be a promo picture that will be altered in post production. Regardless, I am loving it and I cannot wait to see Wonder Woman take on Cheetah in her sequel. What do you think of it?

Over at Entertainment Weekly, we get our first look at the upcoming Aquaman stand alone movie. We don’t get to see Black Manta fully costumed up, but we do get a glimpse. He unfortunately will not be the primary villain of the movie, as Aquaman’s brother Ocean Master has that honor, but still I’m happy to see him be a part of this.

Hell’s yes!!! I absolutely loved writer Sina Grace’s take on Bobby Drake, aka Iceman, in his Marvel ongoing series. It is rare for a gay character to lead his own comic book in a mainstream comic company and even more rare for a gay writer to helm the series. There are many people that were upset at such an established character coming out as being gay, even though there are many that spend their entire lives in the closet. I felt as though Iceman’s first series was cancelled abruptly despite sales not even being shown at the time of cancelation, so it’s heart warming to see that there are others out there that wanted this series to return.

It also looks like the new series will get rid of that god awful red costume that was used in the previous series and return to a more classic look. I have to say well done and I am totally making this costume! Without a doubt!

Marvel has posted an interview with the writer, which is again Sina Grace, on their website. Check it out when you get a chance. I am stoked about this series returning!

I have posted in the past about Joe Phillips, but he deserves repostings. His work is off the charts in terms of how phenomenal his skills are as an artist. This is not to mention that he exemplifies his work in modes of realism that represent subjects that are based on friends and those individuals that he has met in his life. I have been lucky to meet him several times are varying conventions and am proud to call him a friend. He has worked on many Pride projects in the past that are beyond beautiful.

Hey, who is that dorky guy (in the above picture) in the red tank top with his mouth open? Anyways, below are a few of his masterpieces that he has used in various media outlets.

His website is currently under production, but when he does update it, you can check it out over at: www.JoePhillips.com

Remember Image Comics’ Shirtless Bear-Fighter comic book? This was suppose to a funny comic book but was also an unintentionally sexy ass ‘bear fighter’ that many gay men read as well. The character was literally raised and fought bears since his childhood. He is getting the vinyl toy treatment from Skelton Crew Studio. The comic itself was written by Jody LeHeup, Sebastian Girner and Nil Vendrel.

If you are interested in the clothed sexy assed figure or the unfortunately naked ‘pixelated’ version, you can head over to the site: http://skeltoncrewstudio.com/
and preorder it. If you order before July 1, you will receive a plush “bear-skin” rug with the figure.
